River rafting is very popular in Summit County and the Vail Valley. Get wet, in a kayak or on a raft trip. Whitewater rages across the state throughout the year, but the real fun flows from late May through September. Three rivers are available; the Arkansas river, the Blue river and the Colorado River. The wildest river rafting is on the Arkansas river during the heavy snowmelt from late May through June. The most popular run is through Brown's Canyon located south of Leadville. Plan on getting wet! The Blue River and Colorado River are more popular for float trips and more mild whitewater better suited to bring a camera and to enjoy the scenery on the river.
